When I first started out with mediating in the morning, I found that sitting on the floor made my back hurt or my legs fall asleep.  I read up on it and found that taking the pressure off of those areas increased blood flow and improved your mediation success.  I ordered a buckwheat meditation, crescent pillow, so that I could sit cross legged, without the pressure on my spine, or legs. It's amazing how well it works! There are lots of options available, shapes and colors... but the crescent shape truly makes sitting cross legged comfortable. The buckwheat makes it a sturdy and supportive seat, so that your spine is fully supported during your practice.
